To promote industrial cultivation and exports of processable types of millets, the Agricultural and Processed Foodstuff Products’ Export Growth Authority (APEDA) has signed a MoU with ICAR-Indian Institute of Millet Analysis (ICAR-IIMR).
The MoU also envisages creation of market place linkages with farmers as perfectly as Farmer Producers Organisations (FPOs), according to an official assertion. “A joint coordination committee with representatives from APEDA and ICAR-IIMR would be established up to obtain the plans envisaged underneath the MoU,” the launch said.
Profiling of millets growers or farmers in all major rising regions of the region and strengthening of seed provide chain would be taken up by ICAR-IIMR. A Millet Export Advertising Forum, in collaboration with all the important stakeholders, for figuring out export clusters to supply sizeable quantities of generate, and for linking stakeholders with FPOs, would be established up jointly.
The aim of the MoU is to build an export-centric ecosystem with the requisite provide chain linkages, technological repository, scientific reports, consciousness creation, policy modifications and pipeline of entrepreneurs, the launch extra.
