Coronavirus LIVE: PM says ‘jaan bhi jahaan bhi’ on calls to extend lockdown

Coronavirus in India update: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has agreed to extend the lockdown beyond April 14, said Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after a meeting with chief ministers conducted over video on Saturday.
“PM has taken the correct decision to extend lockdown. Today, India’s position is better than in many developed countries because we started lockdown early. If it is stopped now, all gains would be lost. To consolidate, it is imp to extend it,” Kejriwal tweeted after the meeting. According to the Health Ministry, confirmed cases jumped to 7,447 and the death toll climbed to 239.

Odisha and Punjab have already extended the lockdown toll April 30 while many other states have said they want to. Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh told Modi that there is huge uncertainty over the incidence rate of the disease and that the nation is in for a long fight.
