French Connection fields takeover approaches

French Relationship has received two separate takeover techniques from likely suitors, sending the struggling retailer’s shares a two-thirds larger in morning investing. 

Retail investor Spotlight Models has approached the organization with regards to a takeover bid with backing from restructuring and expenditure firm Gordon Brothers, which acquired the Laura Ashley model past year. 

The retailer said it had also obtained a separate likely offer from model expenditure platform Go Global Retail. 

French Relationship, which is valued at all around £15m, mentioned: “Discussions with each Spotlight and Go Global keep on being at a really early phase. Accordingly, there can be no certainty that an offer will be made, nor as to the phrases on which any offer could be made.”

The brand had been struggling right before the pandemic struck – it has not been successful in almost a decade – but rolling lockdowns only included to its woes.
