Walgreens begins administering the COVID-19 vaccine in select states

Walgreens today started administering Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine to people and employees at long-expression care amenities in Ohio and Connecticut.

Walgreens pharmacy workforce associates will provide COVID-19 vaccinations in about 800 long-expression care amenities across twelve states the 7 days of December 21, such as many in rural and urban medically-underserved regions. 

The company will go on to broaden vaccinations to just about three million people and employees at 35,000 long-expression care amenities that have selected Walgreens as their vaccine company, as states finalize their distribution ideas and receive vaccine allocations.

WHY THIS Matters

Personnel and people of long-expression care amenities are the next priority team, immediately after frontline health care personnel, to receive the vaccine.
